Place your desk in a quiet room next to a window. The point of having a home office is for you to be productive at home, and putting your desk into a tucked-in corner space won’t give you inspiration at all. Instead, place your desk next to a window, or in a well-lit area. Foot traffic is a major consideration as well, since you don’t want to be disturbed by noises from random home activities when you need to work.

Be mindful of storage. A couple of YouTube tutorials can help you put in shelves anywhere in your home office. A good trick is to stack shelves on top of your desk area to save space and to allow creativity to rush in. Place photos of people or things that inspire you, or small souvenirs that mean a lot to you.

Add in some indoor plants. Scott Jay Abraham says that indoor plants bring in vibrant colors and make any space lively. Put a small one on your working desk or on shelves. Pick plants that don’t require much sunlight or watering to make maintenance more manageable.
